Teachers' Day - A Truly Singaporean Fare!
A family member is a teacher in Singapore - these "cadeaux" or gift boxes were one of the many presents he received during Teachers' Day which is usually celebrated at the beginning of September. These lovely boxes come with little yummy chocolates inside. For me, the beautiful prints are enough to make any smile. It's like having Christmas early. Young or friendly teachers can get up to hundreds of these small gifts, great huh? :-)Every year, the students here spend much time making or selecting special gifts for their teachers. It is really heartwarming seeing young people roaming around malls looking for gifts for someone that they look up to! A foreign teacher interviewed by the papers said that he had wanted to stay in Singapore for just 2 years but ended up living her for 23 more years AND THE TEACHERS' DAY EVENT WAS ONE OF THOSE THINGS THAT MADE HIM STAY :-)
